The United Way of Northern BC received a very generous donation of $300,000 from Canfor on Saturday night.
A presentation of the cheque was made on the ice at the CN Centre during a break in the third period of the Prince George Cougars vs. Kamloops Blazers game.
The money is the result of workplace fundraising campaigns across the province. Since October 24th, Canfor and Canfor Pulp in Prince George held events including a BBQ and a 50/50 draw with employees also being given the option to make a pledge through their payroll.
As a result, the funds will go to support 200 organizations and 300 programs from Haida Gwaii to Fort St. John, McBride, and everywhere in between.
In Prince George, 23 charities will benefit from United Way funding including Big Brothers Big Sister, the Hospice House, the PG Brain Injured Group, and the YMCA.
