Police Arrest Two For Attempted Murder

Local Mounties have two people in custody in relation to an attack on a remote forest service road on Saturday around 11 p.m. That’s when police received two reports of a woman in distress and Highway 16 5-0 kilometres east of Prince George.
Police and paramedics attended the area and found a 30-year-old female being helped by a passing driver. She was transported to hospital for treatment of severe, life threatening injuries. Police believe she had been driven down a remote forest service road where she was brutally attacked, before escaping and walking out approximately seven kilometres to the highway. Sunday morning, police located and arrested James Stanley Filiatrault and and William Thomas Filiatrault, 21 years old, for Attempted Murder. The father and son suspects were located in a vehicle on Highway 97 in the Hart area of Prince George. Provincial Crown Counsel has approved charges of Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault and Kidnapping.
Police say the suspects and the victim are known to each other. They are confident that the victim was targeted, that this was not a random act and that the public is not at risk.
Both accused have been remanded in custody and will make their first appearances on Monday November 14th, 2016.
