Cariboo Cougars Comeback To Tie Thunderbirds

It wasn’t the way the Cariboo Cougars drew it up, but the cats settled for a 3-3 tie away to the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds in Abbotsford Saturday.

The Cougars now continue their unbeaten streak to eight games and move to 11-1-1-0 on the year thanks to a Daine Dubois tying goal midway through the third period. Devin Sutton and Mason Richey also scored for Cariboo.

Sutton’s goal came in the first period thanks to assists from Hunter Floris and Reid Perepeluk. Fraser Valley led 3-1 early in the third, but Richey managed to get the Cougars back within one with a goal assited by Jarin Sutton.

Perepeluk picked up the assist on Daine Dubois’ tying goal later on in the third period.

The single point gives the Cougars sole possession of first place in the BC Major Midget league, while the Thunderbirds sit 8-4-2-1 at fourth place.

Both clubs will play the back half of the double-header Sunday at 10 a.m. in Abbotsford.
