For the sixth time this season the Cariboo Cougars have kept their opposition scoreless. Thanks to just a 12 save performance from Zach Wickson, the Cariboo Cougars defeated the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds 1-0 Sunday.
Hunter Floris provided the offense for Cariboo with under five minutes left to go in the game. Reid Perepeluk assisted the goal and claimed his third point of the weekend.
The game was a low scoring affair, but much credit to the cats who dressed just 13 skaters and out-shot the Thunderbirds 31-12.
The Cougars now improve to a league-leading 12-1-1-0 record on the year and have now shut-out their opposition in the last four of five games. The Thunderbirds fall to 8-5-2-1.
Wickson achieved his fourth shutout performance of the season and has not let in a goal for the last three straight games he’s started.
The Cougars now continue to hit the road next weekend for a pair of games against the Greater Vancouver Canadians in Richmond.
