The Prince George Spruce Kings went into Friday night’s match-up looking to defeat the Nanaimo Clippers for the first time since the season opener of the 2014/15 season.
Not only did Prince George end its losing streak with Nanaimo, they did it in style with a 6-1 victory on home ice.
Halfway through the first period, Spruce Kings Captain, Brett Mennear was able to find Chong Lee on the far side of the net to put PG up 1-0.
Just a few minutes into the second frame, Jamie Huber took a sharp angled shot and was able to beat Clippers goalie, Evan DeBrouwer. Jared Hovde added another one before the period’s end.
In the third period, the Spruce Kings sealed the deal with goals from Connor Russell, Ben Brar, and Tyler Anderson.
Prince George is back on the ice Saturday at 7 p.m. for a tilt with the Surrey Eagles.
