You can tally it up as a weekend sweep for the Prince George Spruce Kings.
Coming off a 6-1 win over the Surrey Eagle Friday night, Prince George was able to continue its momentum and defeat the Surrey Eagles by a score of 6-3 on Saturday.
Tyler Anderson put the Spruce Kings up by taking the puck end to end to go post in for a 1-0 lead with 12 seconds left in the first period. The offense continued in the second period with Jamie Huber walking into the slot and roofing the puck. Huber hit his shot so perfectly that he sent the wate bottle flying into the far left corner.
Not to be outdone, Sam de Melo found the top corner just four minutes later to give the Spruce Kings a 3-0 lead. Both teams would trade goals in the final frame, but it was Huber again scoring to put the Spruce Kings up by 3 and seal the victory.
Tavin Grant made 21 saves for the victory to give him a 5-4 record on the season. The Spruce Kings now sit third place in the Mainland Division with a comfortable five point cushion over the next best Surrey Eagles.
The next six games are at home for Prince George, starting with a tilt against Salmon Arm Friday, and Coquitlam on Saturday.
