The Prince George Spruce Kings don’t always score eight goals in one game, but when they do, they wait until the second half to do all of their scoring.
A huge 8-0 victory over the Coquitlam Express was well deserved for Prince George who had just a 1-0 lead halfway through the second period. A second half surge saw the Spruce Kings pot seven more goals which included three from captain, Brett Mennear who had a four point night.
The Express were down three of their top four scorers on the night and it showed. A lack of energy from Coquitlam saw them surrender a pair of goals to Parker Colley and singles from Jared Hovde, Kyle Johnson, and Adam Burnett.
Spruce Kings goalie, Tavin Grant also made 27 saves on the night for the shut-out victory.
Prince George is back in action at 7 p.m. Saturday for a tilt against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks at Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.
