The Everett Silvertips are a case the Prince George Cougars just can’t seem to crack this season.
The Cats had their four game winning streak snapped and fell short Saturday night in a 3-0 loss to the Tips. Everett goalie, Carter Hart managed to turn aside all 26 shots he faced to earn the shut-out and the third consecutive victory over Prince George this season.
Montana Oneybuchi opened the scoring early on for Everett just over four minutes into the first period. The second period brought a back and forth battle between both clubs, but the Cougars couldn’t manage a goal.
Early in the third period, Bryce Kindopp got the insurance goal for the Silvertips, putting on through the legs of Cougars goalie Ty Edmonds. An empty-netter from Patrick Bajkov put the game to bed and gave Everitt its 18th victory of the season.
The Silvertips are now two points ahead of the Cougars for first place in the WHL Western Conference standings.
Prince George now has a quick turn-around and will look to get back in the win column Sunday at 2 p.m. for a tilt in Portland against the Winterhawks.
