Opposition MP Back From Washington, DC

Cariboo-Prince George MP has just returned from Washington, DC. He is a member of the Conservative’s  Softwood Lumber Task Force, which hopes to find ways to reach a deal with the US without litigation. Doherty says the “collateral damage” from the last dispute is simply too high.
“114,000 jobs across Canada. I’m not willing to put up collateral damage by going through long and costly litigation.”
He accuses the federal Liberals of merely sitting on their hands while the lawyers figure it out at the expense of Canadian jobs and the forest sector.
The last dispute over softwood lasted five year, between 2001 and 2006.
