The Timberwolves now sit 3-7 going into the Christmas break, while TRU fall to 2-8.
UNBC now takes about a month off before returning back for an away series with the Lethbridge Pronghorns on January 6-7.
Following a four game winning streak, the UNBC Men’s basketball team lost its momentum this weekend getting swept in a pair of games against the Thompson Rivers Wolfpack.
The Timberwolves lost 92-80 to TRU Saturday night following a big fourth quarter performance from the Wolfpack.
TRU had two plays put up double-double performances in the game. Fifth-year forward Volodymyr Igerov scored 23 points and 12 rebounds, while Fourth-year guard, Luke Morris had 22 points and 11 rebounds.
Anthony Hokanson led the way for UNBC with 19 points, while Tyrell Laing followed with 15, and Sam Zhang with nine points.
Despite being up 40-33 at half-time, the Timberwolves ran into foul trouble with Vaggelis Loukas and Austin Chandler on the bench.
TRU took advantage in the paint and was clutch from beyond the arc to make a comeback in the fourth quarter.
Chandler ended up fouling out as UNBC held a 75-70 lead with just less than six minutes left in the game. However, TRU would go on a 16-0 run and earn the victory.
