The Spruce Kings struck first, but it was the Langley Rivermen who would get the last laugh Friday night at Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.
Prince George loses a tough one 2-1 in overtime. Ethan De Jong got on the board quick for Prince George, putting home his third goal of the season thanks to an asssist from Tyler Anderson.
Chances from both clubs saw a scoreless second period, but with just over four minutes to go in the third, Langley knotted up the game. Ryan Barrow took a shot that caught a piece of Spruce Kings goalie, Tavin Grant, but managed to trickle over the line.
The game would go into overtime and need a second overtime period before anything could be solved. The Rivermen got a lucky break on what appeared to be an offside play. Grant came out of his net to play the puck, but met up with Zac Masson who would quickly knock the puck past Grant for the 2-1 decision.
Langley now moves within five points of Prince George for third in the Mainland division. Friday ended an eight game homestand for the Spruce Kings who will now head south for three more games before the Christmas break. Prince George will battle Coquitlam, followed by games with Cowichan Valley and Victoria.
