It’s known as the busiest shopping weekend of the year.
With just one week to go until Christmas, shoppers flocked to the Prince George Civic & Conference Centre Saturday for the annual Winterfest.
The event organized by Wilson Square Market welcome 105 vendors and included plenty of activities for kids like arts and crafts and a visit with Santa himself.
Market Association President, Maria Pennock says the turnout is more than she could have ever expected. “The busiest shopping day in Canada is this weekend so what better day to have a craft fair than today?,” she laughed. “We have people as far as Vanderhoof and Terrace, but also so many local vendors too so it’s been extremely busy with so many faces coming through.”
Pennock also encourages last minute shoppers to buy local to help small businesses and find items you wouldn’t find at traditional retail stores. “This is where you find that gift for the hard to get for person, a lot of items are hand-crafted, it’s unique, and different.”
The craft fair runs until 4 p.m. Saturday.
