The Spruce Kings came out firing Friday night en route to a big 7-3 victory in Coquitlam against the Express.
PG led 2-0 after the first period thanks to goals from Jarod Hovde and Brett Mennear. Team Captain, Mennear scored his 50th career BCHL marker as he managed to flop the puck into the net, past Express goalie Reid Cooper.
In the second frame, the Spruce Kings picked up right where they left off with another two goal performance. This time, Ben Brar was able to put one home on an odd-man rush thanks to a drop pass by Travis Schneider. Ethan De Jong made it 4-0 on a two-on-one with Mennear with only 45 seconds left in the period.
Finally, the Express would get on the board in the third. Hayden Knight managed to sneak one past Tavin Grant who was playing in his 11th consecutive game in the Prince George crease. The celebration was short-lived for Coquitlam however, as Mennear potted away his second of the night.
The Express would find twine twice more in the third, but it was Prince George call-up Chong Min Lee who managed to cap off the scoring for his first BCHL goal in his first ever BCHL appearance.
With his older brother playing in Poland at the Euro Ice Hockey Challenge, Min Lee was able to make his brother proud scoring with 38 seconds left in the fame thanks to a pass from Ben Poisson. Ryan Stack also assisted on the play for his first BCHL point.
The Spruce Kings now finish off the final road trip before the Christmas break and travel to Victoria Saturday for a tilt with the Cowichan Valley Capitals at 7 p.m.
