Two men cheated death in a bizarre single vehicle crash on the Quesnel – Hixon Road today. Mounties say the vehicle the men were in, left the the road and went down a 50 foot embankment before launching across the ice covered Cottonwood River. Police found the two men stranded on the ice. Mounties donned life jackets and used rescue ropes to reach the men and bring them to safety. Both were taken to hospital for treatment and both are expected to make a full recovery. Police suggest slushy road conditions played a role in the crash.
