City crews are continuing efforts to break down the Nechako River ice jam. Firefighters spent several hours Thursday spraying water onto the ice, in an effort to open up some channels.
The City says it is continuing to monitor water levels in the river closely. And it’s distributed information to about 240 homes and businesses that could be impacted by the ice jam. The information includes details around how to request sandbags.
Temperatures are expected to stay well below the freezing mark over the weekend.
The Heritage Trail from the Cottonwood Island Park to the Cameron Street Bridge remains closed. And parking at the boat launch and at Kiwanis Park is not available.
