With winter upon us, some households rely on wood heat to stay warm. Today the BC government is renewing its initiative to improve air quality through a Wood Stove Exchange Program. The program provides a $250 rebate when a new wood burning, pellet or natural gas stove is purchased to replace an older model. Last year 600 stoves were exchanged through the program. The provincial government says under the program, more than 500 tonnes of particulates have been removed from BC air-sheds since 2008.
