Update: Ice Jam Security

Prince George, BC, Canada / CKPG News

Despite several warnings to stay away, it seems locals just want to get a closer look at the Nechako River ice jam. Though there has been little change in the ice buildup on the Nechako close to the confluence with the Fraser, more people were seen close to the water’s edge yesterday. The city is reminding residents it is a hazardous activity and puts both their lives and potentially the lives of emergency personnel at risk. More signs have gone up around the park closures and there will be security onsite throughout Saturday night to discourage New Year’s revelers from moving the signs.
