It’s a girl!
Northern Health announced Sunday morning that the first baby born in Northern BC in 2017 is Alma Elvira Baerg. Baerg was born at 1:55 a.m. at the University Hospital of Northern BC to mom, Stephanie and dad, Joel weighing in at 10 lbs, 8oz.
Alma arrived quicly and safely via waterbirth with midwife Karin Gerlach. The newborn will be welcomed by her big brother, Atticus (4) and sister Evelyn (2). The Baerg family currently lives in China to study language, but came back to Canada to visit family for the birth of Alma.
The first baby born in British Columbia was delivered at BC Women’s Hospital at 12:00 a.m. on January 1, 2016.
