The Ministry of Environment and Northern Health have issued an Air Quality Advisory for Vanderhoof. High concentration of fine particulate matter due to still air is expected to persist until Thursday.
People with chronic medical conditions should to postpone strenuous exercise until the advisory is lifted. Air conditioned spaces can help reduce exposure, which is particularly a concern for infants, the elderly, those with diabetes, and lung or heart disease.
To help reduce any personal health risk, the Ministry of Environment and Northern Health suggest:
- avoiding roads with heavy traffic and areas with wood smoke
- managing medical conditions
- using common sense with physical outdoor activity
- maintaining good overall health
