A bear cub is lucky to be alive today. And it can thank a good samaritan. The young cub wandered into Mike Dutchak’s backyard, looking for a place to rest and keep warm. Living on the outskirts of the city, animals wandering through Mike Dutchak’s backyard is normal. However, finding a bear cub in the middle of the winter was a surprise. Alone, the cub’s chances of surviving the winter would be dim. But it will have a better chance at the Northern Lights Wildlife Santuary near Smithers, where it’s been sent to be raised.
