There is a not-so-new face at the helm for the Board of the College of New Caledonia. Robert Doney has assumed the position as Acting Board Chair, effective immediately. Doney has served as Vice Chair for the past eight months. He will hold the position until a new Executive is elected.
He takes this position on from former Board Chair, Jason Fisher, whose term as a member of the Board expired Dec. 31, 2016. Mr. Fisher recently announced his decision to not seek another term on the Board, nor to continue in his capacity as Chair, due to professional demands stemming from his work in the wood industry.
“We are all very sorry to see Jason leave,” said Doney. “During his time on the board, he has made significant contributions and his leadership has been greatly appreciated.”
The College of New Caledonia is also pleased to welcome Gil Malfair to the Board of Governors. He was appointed to his first term on the Board December 14, 2016. Mr. Malfair has practiced with prominent law firms throughout western Canada. In 2007, he established Malfair Law, a boutique business law firm in Prince George. Mr. Malfair is a Director of the Northern British Columbia Freestyle Club and is an active volunteer with the Prince George Ringette Association. Mr. Malfair was raised in Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan and is of Metis descent.
