Coming off a tough 10-4 loss to Powell River the day before, the Prince George Spruce Kings looked to get back on track Saturday night against the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.
Unfortunately, the offense was lacking as PG lost 4-1. The Spruce Kings were heavily outshot 14-5 in the first period and managed a 0-0 score at the first break.
In the second, Alberni kicked off the scoring on the powerplay with Alex MacDonald snapping a shot past Spruce Kings netminder, Tavin Grant. Prince George would make a brief comeback as Parker Colley managed to sneak in a shot past Brody Claeys.
With just over a minute and a half left in the second, the Bulldogs managed to get an insurance goal as Darren Rizzolo sprung Cayden Kraus on the left wing. Kraus made no mistake, finding space, and then snapping a shot past Grant.
The third period would bring a frenzy of powerplay opportunities for the Spruce Kings, but Prince George was unable to capitalize going 0 for 6 on the night.
The Spruce Kings will finish off their road trip Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. in Nanaimo against the Clippers.
