Power has been restored to the Vanderhoof and surrounding areas , ut 5 schools will stay closed for the day and reopen tomorrow . At one point early Monday morning, 4,600 people were left without power after a motor vehicle accident.
Vanderhoof RCMP are continuing to investigate that single vehicle crash that sent one person to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The North District RCMP says it happened at 1:27 a.m. Monday when a car struck a power ple near 1st Street in Vanderhoof. The crash resulted in downed power lines, forcing the lone driver to remain inside the vehicle. BC Hydro and Vanderhoof RCMP were immediately called to the scene where the driver was safely removed from their car.
Mounties are continue to investigate an exact cause of the crash.
