The Prince George Spruce King’s have made a special announcement in regards to Saturday night’s game against Chilliwack. The Kings are teaming up with the Spirit of The North health care foundation.
The partnership was formed to raise $3,300 at Saturday night’s game. The money will go toward purchasing surgical equipment for ears, nose, and throat procedures at the Saint Johns Hospital in Vanderhoof.
Spruce Kings Business and Marketing Manager Lu Verticchio explained why the team decided to make the partnership which also included Vanderhoof Co-op. “Both Vanderhoof Co-op and the Spruce Kings are both community minded teams and we were looking for something we could do that could have some meaning for our region. Not just Prince George and not just Vanderhoof but our whole region.”
The Treasure Cove Casino has already donated one thousand dollars toward the cause. The Spruce Kings are donating their portion of the 50/50 to the cause, and Spirit of the North will also be accepting donations at the game. Verticchio hopes the goal of $3,300 will be met on Saturday. Puck drop is at 7pm at Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.
