The Timberwolves split their games last night in the city. The Lady T-Wolves used a smothering defence to post a 70 – 48 victory. UNBC led 26 – 24 at the half but went on a 12 – 0 run in the third quarter to open up some breathing room. The win improves UNBC’s record to 4 and 9 while the Cougars fell to 2 – 9.
Mt. Royal exacted some revenge in the men’s game, dumping the T-wolves 78 – 64. UNBC was down 31 – 26 at the half, despite going just 1 for 18 from three-point range. The Cougars stretched their lead when they scored 9 straight points in the third, but the T-Wolves fought back and were within 4 points in the fourth quarter. But that’s when foul trouble let the game slip away. Mt. Royal moves to 6 and 5 on the season with the win while the UNBC falls to 4 and 9.
They’ll do it all over again tonight beginning with the womens game at 5 and the men’s game at 7.
