Students at ten local elementary schools will receive a science treat this week. Science World’s On The Road program is stopping in the city.
The team will using everything from a hovercraft to explosions to pique the student’s curiosity. It’s hoping to boost science literacy and inspire many of British Columbia’s bright young minds to consider a career in the field of science.
Science World’s On The Road program ran from 2005 to 2012, touching more than 1.3 million British Columbians over those years. It was developed to engage residents in science and inspire future leaders in science and technology. The visits were made possible through provincial government support and funding from donors.
The program resumed last fall when Science World redirected funds within its organization to produce a more modest program to take on the road.
The week winds up with a community science celebration Saturday at The Exploration Place.
