Two exhibitions at the Two Rivers Gallery open tonight, one of which is dedicated to Canada’s 150 Anniversary of Confederation.
The Exhibit called ‘And’ is in celebration of our country’s Birthday. It features pieces from 14 artist in the province. Each work tells a serious, if not sad, story from the last 150 years.
“We had to acknowledge there was certain celebratory aspects to confederation and there was other stories as well that came into play,” says the Curator and Artistic Director of Two Rivers Art Gallery, George Harris. “Certainly this is a cause for celebration, and it’s also a pause for sober reflection. We recognize that this has been a great milestone for the history of this country and also we have to recognize maybe for some people it wasn’t such a great 150 years.”
A discussion will open the exhibits at 7:30 p.m., followed by a reception.
