Calling all the young athletes. A search for Olympic potential is being held in Prince George tomorrow morning. The RBC Training Ground Regional Qualifier is will be hosted at the Charles Jago Northern Sport Centre from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Athletes between the ages of 14 and 25 can test their speed, power, strength and endurance…which will be evaluated at benchmarks set by national sport organizations looking for those with Olympic potential.
Anyone who reaches the standards will be invited to the regional finals in Vancouver and Calgary. Participation is free, and no previous sport experience is required.
“There is very much untapped talent here,” says the Manager of High Performance at Engage Sport North, Dave Adolph. “There is diamonds in the rough of athletes in many different age groups, from young athletes to athletes we call late bloomers. I firmly believe in Prince George that they are here. So anyone that is interested, that is thinking ‘do I have a chance or maybe not?’ This is a perfect opportunity.”
Those interested who have not registered are asked to arrive at 8 a.m.
