The first “Community Science Celebration” is being held at The Exploration Place tomorrow. The centre partnered with Science World, Genome BC, the MakerLab and other local organizations. The event is being held in The Exploration Place atrium from 10:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.
A stage show will be held every hour. There will also be booths with hands-on activities, as well as a DNA extraction presentation. The Exploration Place can host a few hundred people at a time, and are hoping for that level of traffic.
“The purpose is just to celebrate science, show people science can be fun!” says the Deputy Director, Amanda Smedley. “To show kids all of the neat career activities and careers that they could pursue in science and basically just show people what is going on in our community that relates to science and innovation.”
The event is free to the public. Organizers are hoping to make it an annual event.
