Collin Shirley’s second goal of the game at the 59 second mark of overtime gave the Kamloops Blazers a 5 – 4 win over the visiting Prince George Cougars Saturday night.
Playing in their 4th game in five nights, the Cougars may have run out of gas. They jumped out to a 4 – 2 lead after the first twenty minutes, but couldn’t score again against Connor Ingram in the Blazers net. Kamloops forced overtime when Deven Sideroff scored with the goaltender on the bench and just 52 seconds remaining in the third period.
Brendan Guhle had two goals for the Cougars while Jesse Gabrielle had a goal and two assists and Jansen Harkins added a goal and an assist.
The win leaves the Blazers just 7 points behind the first place Cougars in the BC Division. Prince George continues its five game road trip with a rare Monday night game in Vancouver.
