Make it seven for seven. Wenatchee’s dominance of the Spruce Kings continued Saturday night when home town Wild defeated Prince George 5 – 3.
The decision gave the Mainland Division leading Wild a sweep of their seven game season series with Prince George. In fact, since the Wild entered the league last season, they’ve beaten the Spruce Kings in 13 of the 14 games between the two clubs.
Saturday’s game followed the script of Friday night’s 6 – 2 Wenatchee victory, as the Wild jumped on the Kings early, holding a 3 – 0 lead through the first period.
Matt Baker had 2 goals to lead the Wild while Tanner Campbell, Ben Poisson, and Kyle Johnson scored for Prince George. The Wild outshot the Spruce Kings 31 – 29.
The loss leaves the Kings in fourth place in the Mainland Division, 6 points behind third place Langley but 10 points ahead of 5th place Surrey. The Kings are in Merritt Friday.
