Museum Seeks City's Help

Representatives from the Railway and Forestry Museum were before Council for an update on its major pavilion project this summer. It has hammered out a budget to build the structure, which will cover as many as eight rail cars. The total capital cost of the project is $1.2 million dollars, $250,000 of which will come from the museum’s offers. However, the Museum is asking for a commitment of $100,000 from the City as part of this “community project.” They are also asking for some “administrative support.”
While the project will tap into the expertise of the Timber Framers Guild, local trades will be brought in to build the structure. The plan is to incorporate an educational element as well with high school students.
The hope is to have the structure in place this summer.
