Not surprisingly, the City is looking at a snow removal surplus. Unlike most budgets, the snow removal budget is based on a calendar year. With 2016 come and gone, the City has pulled together the numbers. The annual budget for snow removal is $7,000,000. But the City only spent $4.3 million of that amount last year. It means more than $2.5 million dollars of surplus will head to the reserve fund, even though Council could opt not to budget the full amount this year.
