The City of Prince George has partnered with the Prince George Community Foundation and the Community Foundation of Canada to provide additional funding for events and initiatives in celebration of Canada’s 150 Birthday. The City matched the Community Foundation of Canada’s contribution of $25,000.
The new $50,000 in funding will go towards supporting 8 initiatives in Prince George, some of which include the Canada 150 Snow & Ice Sculpture Celebration, the Adult Summer Reading Club and the Prince George Young Canadian Music Festival.
These activities are on top of the federally funded Canada 150 events announced a few weeks ago, which the Government of Canada provided $276,000 in support of.
“Many organizations don’t receive a lot of funding,” says Mayor Lyn Hall. “For this infusion of grant finding it gives them a chance to provide to the community a special event. Maybe something they wouldn’t be able to do previous.”
