Over 500 people attended the 3rd annual UNBC Timberwolves Legacy Breakfast this morning. The Northern Sports Centre gym was jam packed for a speech from former NHL star Theo Fleury.
Fleury called the speech “Don’t Quit Before The Miracle”, and spoke about his challenges regarding substance, and sexual abuse. The published author of two different books (Playing With Fire, and Conversations With A Rattle snake), spoke at CNC yesterday as well.
In addition to stressing the importance of speaking out regarding mental health, Fleury praised Prince George when asked about the reception he’s received. “It’s been awesome, its a great community. There’s so much sports here, its wicked. To have a facility like this is pretty great too.”
UNBC Athletics auctioned off two signed Theo Fleury jerseys for $3,000 each, in addition to matching donations made at the event up to $15,000, all toward athletic scholarships.
