Avalanche Canada Urges Backcountry Safety

Prince George, BC, Canada / CKPG News

Avalanche Canada is touring the region over the next few days, talking about the need to be safe while out snowmobiling in the back country. Avalanche Canada says it’s important to ensure you have the proper safety equipment when you head out and, more importantly, you know how to use it. Brent Strand says, if caught in an avalanche, a snowmobiler has about 15 seconds to take life-saving measures. He says you should have a transceiver, a shovel and a probe with you at all times when hitting the backcountry.
