Compared to this time last year, property crimes are up 30%. As of February 19th, Prince George RCMP have received 661 reports of property crime. The main issue remains vehicle theft which is also on the rise compared to 2016 numbers.
The Heritage, and Downtown areas are being hit the hardest, and police are reminding the public to take the necessary precautions to prevent this trend from increasing further. “We need to all do our part to eliminate this crime. Don’t be a victim. Remove valuables, lock doors, and report suspicious activity to police.”
Police have also found there to be a spike in break and enters this year as well. Gated compounds are also being targeted, pushing RCMP to warn people even with high security. As always police are reminding the public to call them, or Crime Stoppers if any suspicious activity is spotted.
