UNBC’s student chapter for Fisheries and Wildlife hit West Lake Saturday to take part in the annual Ice fishing derby.
The friendly competition allows anglers to catch and release fish, with prizes to be won for biggest, smallest, most diverse and total number of game fish.
“It’d be nice to catch a few fish, that’s kind of the goal around here.” said Colten Brûlé who’s taking part in the event.
Some fish were kept and taken home for a fresh meal.
It’s the 8th annual derby.
