The Prince George Cougars are officially going to the post season after clinching their 40th victory of the season Saturday night.
The cats were coming off a big victory on Friday night at CN Centre against the Edmonton Oil Kings, which saw goaltender Ty Edmonds clinch his 96th win, which is the most wins by a goaltender in team history.
Saturday’s affair was a close one until the third period when the flood gates opened up for the cats, popping in a few powerplay goals to take it 5-2.
Forwards Radovan Bondra and Jesse Gabrielle picked up three-points each, with Gabrielle scoring two including the game-winner.
Prince George’s Nick McBride made 31 saves in the effort, good for his 13th victory of the year. Edmonton’s Josh Dechaine faced 42 shots in the losing cause.
The Cats are back at it on Wednesday, taking on the Kelowna Rockets before a home date Friday night against the Kamloops Blazers.
