Hotel Tax Increase Approved

An application made last year to increase the local hotel tax, from two percent to three percent. It’s a tax that is added to the cost of accommodations to aid in the marketing tourism opportunities in the city.

“Tourism Prince George is very pleased to announce that our Municipal and Regional District Tax application has been successful and we propose to use the funds to increase and attract higher profile sport events and meetings and conventions to the City,” says CEO Erica Hummel. The tax program is intended to contribute to an increase in local tourism revenue, visitation, and economic benefits.

The tax kicks in July 1st.
