Valemount Gets Funding For Boundary Study

The Village of Valemount is getting more funding to look into the idea of expanding its municipal boundaries to include the Valemount Glacier Destination Resort. The Province has approved $25,000 to study the benefits and challenges associated with such a move.
Valemount Glacier Destinations Ltd. is proposing to build a year-round resort, including ski lifts, residential development and a hotel just west of the village. The resort proponent requires an approved master development agreement with the Province before the project can proceed.
The cost of the municipal boundary expansion study is being shared among the B.C. government as well as #20,000 from the Village of Valemount, while the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George is contributing in-kind services to the study by providing senior planning staff.
