Over thirty- thousand dollars will be granted to the Pacific Western Brewing Company. The announcement comes as part of the provincial governments “Buy Local” program.
The Buy Local program is geared towards funding the promotion of local products through advertising campaigns, and developing promotional material. Pacific Western is B.C.’s largest independent brewing company and the funding will assist them in launching marketing campaigns for the “Cariboo Springs Lager” which is solely made from B.C. grown ingredients.
MLA Shirley Bond was in attendance to make the official announcement on behalf of agriculture minister Norm Letnick. “We are proud to support the hard work and dedication of the individuals who have the passion and skill to produce some popular products like those from Pacific Western Brewing in our own company.” said Bond.
The funding has been spread out between 15 different B.C. breweries, and wineries. The price tag of the program is a total of $456,193. Since 2012, the province has committed $14 million in funding toward the Buy Local program, with $1.6 million of that money going toward the beer and wine industry.
