13 CNC nursing students are heading to India on April 25th. They will spend a five month practicum exploring different challenges.
“In India we will be working on all our nursing skills that we practice here,” says Chantelle Jimenez, a second-year nursing student. “We are going to work at a local hospital in the Bangalore region. Then every Friday we are going to go to an orphanage to work with the children there.”
A city-wide bottle drive is being held this weekend to help fundraise the trip. Bottles can be dripped off at PG Recycling and Return under “CNC India Practicum 2017”. The 13 students are also arranging pick-ups. To arrange a pick-up on April 1st, you can contact 250-301-5727.
The school is also hosting a “Flip Flop Campaign” for the trip.
“All we are asking is for you to donate a new pair of flip flops,” says Jimenez. “Anywhere from sizes 1 to 13, or adult sizes. Our teacher last year; when she went to India, she noticed that a lot of students and adults didn’t have shoes. So it is just our small way to contribute.”
