City Unveils New Asphalt Machine With Plans For Roads And Sidewalks

The City of Prince George announced their plans for this year on road and sidewalk rehabilitation.

It includes 12 sidewalks that will be refurbished with an additional 6 new sidewalks being installed along Westwood Drive, Cathedral Avenue and Malaspina Avenue.

Meanwhile, the city unveiled its new asphalt recycler that produces up to 10 tonnes of hot mix asphalt per hour.

The $225,000 machine mixes the asphalt which is then used to fill potholes during the cold winter months.

Old asphalt is loaded into the recycler, which is then heated and ready to use within 8-10 minutes. City staff say the machine helps patch up potholes more efficiently.
