New Sonography Program At CNC

It has been a bumper day for the College of New Caledonia.
Dignitaries from the BC Government, the College and Northern Health gathered to announce $2.5 million in funding for the creation of a new diagnostic medical sonography diploma program. $1.5 million will be spent on renovations and equipment, while $400,000 has been dedicated to annual operations. It’s one of the more in demand programs in the province and now only the second in BC outside the Lower Mainland.
“Sonographers are in-demand throughout British Columbia, especially here in the North. We know that students often choose to live and make a home for themselves in the communities where they study.”
Morris says the addition of this diploma program is just adding to the growing suites of medical programs offered in Northern BC. It’s helping to address what is a “perennial” issue around recruitment.
The first intake of student will be in September 2018. That class will graduate in 2020.
