11 Prince George Army Cadets are on their way to Europe. The group is traveling to Vimy Ridge this week to commemorate the battle’s 100th Anniversary.
This is the first time the Prince George Army Cadets are making the trip to France. Cadets and leaders have been fundraising all year. The goal of the 11-day trip is to give members a deeper understanding of the battle and what it meant for our country.
“It will bring a lot meaning into their lives,” says Captain Valerie Bergey with the 2618 Army Cadets.”They will always hear about the battle and stuff like that, but to go and see the trenches and see the fields and see the monuments, I think that’s going to really bring it home.”
