Distracted Driving Results In

Local police have wrapped up a distracted driving blitz that took place over the course of the month of March.
Using everything from convention marked cars to Citizens on Patrol, officers issued 16 tickets for distracted driving involving the use of cell phones. They even went as far as riding transit buses to watch for anyone using a cell phone or electronic device while behind the wheel.
They observed 57 drivers texting, talking and otherwise holding a cell phone while driving. Warning letters have been sent to those drivers. in one case, a letter was sent to WorkSafe BC as the offender was operating a commercial vehicle.
A total of 16 tickets were issued, with fines of $368 dollars and four demerit points for each ticket.
