Reading Competition Celebrates Canadian Literature

Twelve books written by Canadian authors are on the ballot for this year’s Red Cedar book awards voted on by Canada’s youth.

Participating elementary schools in Prince George assigned their students to read each of those books at the beginning of the school year. And after a competitive trivia battle yesterday, Ecole Lac Des Bois students was crowned this years District reading champions.

“You can tell by the looks on their faces they are very engaged in the books and competition and it just makes it very fun to watch. Anytime students get together for books it’s a great thing.” Said event Organizer and teacher Tina Cousins.
