The Spruce City Wildlife Association has nearly 2000 thousand Chinook salmon fry in its hatchery. The fish grew quicker than expected. Now Spruce City members are looking for assistance from children to help them with a Salmon Send Off. Spruce City Wildlife member Dusitn Snyder says the water at the hatchery is four to five degrees warm than it would be in a river and in warmer water the fry grew a lot quicker. The plan was to release the fry near the end May but now the fish release has been re-scheduled for Sunday, April 23rd 11am at the Cottonwood Island Boat Launch. After the release the public is welcome to tour the Spruce City Wildlife Association fish hatchery, so the fish have a better chance of surviving.
