Christy Clark stepped off her campaign bus in Quesnel Friday to take a tour of West Fraser mill.
Clark’s main message, was promising workers that she will work to secure a new softwood lumber deal
“Workers need somebody that’s gonna stand up.” said Clark.
She adds that if re-elected, she will push to get the right deal, quickly for BC forestry workers.
Cariboo North NDP candidate Scott Elliott believes should have happened long ago.
“The deal has been off the table for a year and a half.” Elliott said.
“This is something that should have been addressed a long time ago.”
Meanwhile, earlier this week U-S President Donald Trump took aim at Canada’s dairy and lumber industry calling it a disgrace.
The previous softwood agreement expired over a year and a half ago, with a one year grace period expiring in October 2016.
